This line of stylish headphones made with reclaimed wood also has a deeper mission – to help restore hearing to a person in need.
Whether you use them to block out the background noise in your office, to motivate yourself with inspirational tunes while working out, to listen to your favorite music or podcasts while commuting, or to watch a movie without disturbing anyone else in your house, headphones have become quite a part of our gadget-centric culture. And with good reason, as so many of us use our cellphones for a lot of our media consumption, from movies to games to music, and without them, we’d all be struggling to hear over the rest of the noises around us.
However, most “over the ear” headphone designs aren’t really that appealing to the eye, unless you’re really into the audiophile look or the recording studio style, so this beautiful line of headphones from LSTN is like a breath of fresh air. And they not only look good, but they do good as well, through funding the restoration of hearing for people in need with every sale.
LSTN’s headphones are made with reclaimed wood, and because of the organic nature of patterns in the wood, each pair is unique. The company has three lines of headphones, two of which are “over the ear” models, and one which is an “earbud” style, ranging in price from $50 to $150.

The Troubadours (top photo) are a teardrop-shaped headphone, and come in beech, cherry, or ebony wood, with a stainless steel adjustable headband ($150). The Fillmore line (above) also comes in your choice of beech, cherry, or ebony, but with a round shape and a matte black headband ($100), and fold up for transport. The Bowery line of earbuds are encased in a wood housing (same choice of woods) ($50), and all three of the LSTN lines also include a microphone for making phone calls or voice recording, as well as a drawstring bag to protect them from scratches.
LSTN’s headphones are not only beautiful, affordable, and sound good, but where LSTN’s business model really makes a difference is in helping some of the 360 million people in our world who are hearing impaired, so they can enjoy the things we take for granted, such as hearing our loved ones or our favorite artists. And it turns out that it really doesn’t take much to make a difference for many of the hearing impaired, as according to LSTN, “95% of children in deaf schools worldwide can be helped with just a hearing aid.”
“We believe that what’s good for business should be good for the world. When we started LSTN, our mission was to create a company that could create global change by providing high quality products that help fund hearing restoration and spread awareness for the global problem of hearing loss and hearing impairment. Our Giving Back. Amplified. program wasn’t an afterthought or marketing gimmick, it was the reason we started LSTN.We didn’t just want to create another headphone company. We wanted to create something that could change the world.” – LSTN
For each pair of headphones sold by LSTN, the company funds hearing aids for a person in need through the Starkey Hearing Foundation, which provides about 100,000 hearing aids each year to people in need around the world.
Check out the LSTN headphones for yourself, and remember that you can help make a difference in someone’s life, while also enhancing your own with these stylish headphones.
