Belgium’s Princess Astrid’s shot deafend PM Charles Michel

nsnbc : Belgium’s Prime Minister Charles Michel received a “Royal Salut” when HRH Princess Astrid fired a staring gun at the 20 km of Brussels on Sunday. Michel has to undergo treatment for damage to his hearing and couldn’t appear in parliament on Monday.

HRH Princess Sstrid_Charles Michel_Belgium_Brussels_may 2017No, HRH Princess Astrid didn’t say “you are fired” to Prime Minister Charles Michel, but she ruffled the Prime Minister’s feathers when she fired a starting shot at the opening of the 20 km of Brussels on Sunday at Brussels Jubel Park, and that too close to comfort for Michel’s ears.

The PM was unable to appear in parliament on Monday to allow treatment – started on Sunday – to proceed. The Royal salvo made it necessary for the Prime Minister to seek the required medical treatment within 48 hours of the damage inflicted on him by the sister of King Filip.

Ironically, the Princess is also doubling as President of the Belgian Red Cross so she’s probably be able to pull some strings for the medical treatment of Michel and his ears.

With the PM incapacitated, Belgian MPs will have to wait for the details about the government’s investment plan until Michel can hear his colleagues and is sure to avoid unnecessary hearing loss due to delayed or incomplete treatment. The PM’s other activities should reportedly be able to go ahead as planned.

The fact that Michel can go ahead with other activities as scheduled prompted some to ask if the royal salvo had caused selective hearing loss – meaning that Michel should be careful not to listen to noisy negativists in parliament.
