Bioshock’s Ken Levine to write Logan’s Run remake

Can the man who gave us the Bioshock franchise work the same magic on the 1976 dystopian sci-fi flick Logan’s Run?

That’s certainly what Warner Bros is banking on. According to Deadline, WB has nabbed Levine to write a screenplay for the remake of Logan’s Run.

Made back in the mid-’70s and based on a 1967 book by William F Nolan, Logan’s Run starred Michael York as Logan 5, and was set in a future world where overpopulation meant that humans were voluntarily euthanised at the age of 30.

The film was referenced in the Old World Blues DLC for Fallout: New Vegas. A new perk called Logan’s Loophole capped your level at 30, but added a number of bonuses around chems and addiction.

Levine started his working career as a screenwriter, penning two screenplays before becoming a game designer in 1995. The remake seems to have been stuck in “development hell” for a while now, with a number of high-profile names like Bryan Singer and Ryan Gosling attached to the film at one point or another.

Fans of Irrational’s work shouldn’t panic, however; Levin will remain in his role as creative director. In this case, it seems that screenwriting is more of a hobby compared to the serious works of game design.
