Black Jewish woman wins Miss Israel 2013 title

For the first time ever, a black Jewish woman has won the Miss Israel title, according to press reports in Israel.

Yityish Titi Aynaw, won the title of Miss Israel 2013 on Wednesday night. The 21-year-old resident of the Israeli city of Netanya, which is located on the Mediterranean coast of Israel is the first Ethiopian-born contestant to win the title.

Aynaw came to Israel with her family, 9 years ago. She was enrolled in the Miss Israel contest by her friend and has no previous modeling experience.

During the contest, Aynaw, said that she wants to become a fashion model in order to change the attitudes toward dark skin models in Israel. I would love to be the first Ethiopian Israeli television host, like the Tyra Banks in Israel, she told a newspaper.
