A bomb explosion targeting a pickup truck at a petrol pump in southwestern Pakistan has killed one person and injured 12 others.
According to police, the blast took place on Thursday in the Naseerabad district of Balochistan Province, some 800 kilometers (500 miles) southwest of the main city of Quetta.
“A pickup was waiting in a queue for its turn to fill petrol at a pump when suddenly a bomb exploded in it,” local police official Jan Muhammad said.
“There is at least one death and 12 injured, six of whom are in critical condition,” Muhammad added.
There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing.
The explosion comes a day after unknown gunmen killed a senior Afghan cleric in the city of Quetta.
Thousands of people have lost their lives in bombings and other militant attacks in Pakistan since 2001, when Islamabad entered an alliance with Washington in the so-called war on terror.
The Pakistani government has said that it will use military action as a last resort to address the issues of extremism and militancy in the country.
