Boeing offers its new models to Iranian airlines

Maqsoud As’adi Samani told reporters on Monday that during the meeting, Boeing delegation proposed its new models of Boeing 737, 777 and 787 (also popularly known as ‘Dreamliner’) to Iranian airlines; “currently, a total of 60 Boing planes are owned by Iranian airlines, with some 48 planes actively flying in domestic routes; the active planes are Boing MD, 747, 737, 757, and 727, comprising about 32 per cent of active airline fleet of the country,” he added.

“A permit by US Treasury gave mandate to Boeing to establish contacts with Iranian airlines to use the highly potential market of Iran in times post-JCPOA; in a 2-day visit of hectic talks between Iran’s state airline (HOMA) and other Iranian private operators and Boeing officials, they agreed to provide technical support to current Boeing planes flying in Iran,” said As’adi Samani, “Boeing representatives provided assurances to Iranian sides that they will offer services and supports to Iranian airlines with official agreements become to reality.”

He also said that a number of private airlines had embarked on limited negotiations with Boeing after Geneva Agreement which had some of sanctions eliminated. “Provision of technical support and other services will be critical to securing any agreements to buy Boeing new models of planes; Iranian airlines as well will consider the deal according to their financial obligations and expediencies,” he asserted.

“The Boeing delegation included Regional Sales manager, Regional Director and Logistics and Financing Services Manager; any deal will hinge upon Boeing’s future conduct in remaining committed to its obligations under the articles of any agreement,” said the official. “Possible financing of the agreement had been suggested by Boeing as foreign financiers, to which Iranian side will decide to choose according to economic cost and effect analysis.”
