A 14-year-old boy has been charged with throwing rocks at vehicles on a western Sydney motorway, shattering the windscreens of a semi-trailer and a van.
The first rock was thrown about noon (AEST) on Thursday at a Ford Transit van travelling west along the M4 at South Wentworthville.
The impact shattered the windscreen but the driver, who was uninjured, was able to call police.
Minutes later, the windscreen was shattered of a westbound semi-trailer.
The driver, who was also uninjured, stopped in a breakdown lane and called police.
Two boys, both aged 14, were taken to Merrylands Police Station where one of them was charged with throwing rocks or objects at moving vehicles and malicious damage.
He was granted conditional bail to appear in Parramatta Children’s Court on May 2.
The other boy was released without charge pending further investigations.
