The town of Ticino in Switzerland has banned burqas! You know, the oh-so-wonderful Muslim fashion that the women wear for some reason. Personally, I at least want to see a woman’s face before I take her out for lobster, steak and cocktails!
The Swiss parliament declared that the ban would not “violate the country’s federal law.” Women could receive a whopping fine of up to £6,500, which is $9,828.84 if caught wearing the burqa. For those of you that aren’t familiar, the burqa covers the woman’s entire body from head to toe.
Muslim women can no longer wear the full-body garment in shops, restaurants or public buildings.
An overwhelming amount of voters backed the referendum, in the wake of heightened terrorist alerts across Europe.
The law applies to burqas worn by over 40,000 Muslim women in Switzerland and it also applies to all tourists visiting the area.
This makes perfect sense to me.
Giorgio Ghiringhelli, who wrote the proposal said,“Those who want to integrate are welcome irrespective of their religion, but those who rebuff our values and aim to build a parallel society based on religious laws, and want to place it over our society, are not welcome.”
You have to love this! Way to go brother!
Liberal and Muslim groups of course are crying about discrimination, including a group called Amnesty International.
The Ticino law was inspired by a similar French ban, which was upheld by the European Court of Human Rights in 2014.
France’s parliament passed a similar burqa ban in 2010, leading to protests from Islamic groups who called it discriminatory as well.
Look, there is NOTHING discriminating about prohibiting faceless Muslims from running around wearing Hefty bags. A person can hide a ton of explosives under those stinking things.
The United States needs to pass a similar ban but with Obama in charge that will never happen. It wouldn’t surprise me if he runs around the White House wearing one while listening to “the sweetest sound” and praising Allah.
