The Courier-Mail newspaper has apologised for any harm caused by a decision to publish the names and identities of four Italian sisters involved in a custody battle in Brisbane last year.
In the Magistrates Court in Brisbane today, the paper pleaded guilty to breaking the law in its coverage of the story, which included a front-page photograph of the girls.
A spokesman for News Corp Australia says the company sincerely regrets the situation and the paper will fully accept the consequences.
