A prancing pooch who delighted Britain’s Got Talent judges with his
dance skills has died – just seven months after reaching the
semi-finals.

Adorable poodle Teddy and his trainer Angela Richens, 65, shot to fame when they appeared on the ITV talent show with a performance to ‘Knees Up Mother Brown’.

Judges David Hasselhoff, Michael McIntyre and Amanda Holden cried with laughter as the pooch danced with his proud owner.

Teddy – called ‘adorable’ by the Hoff – ran through Angela’s legs and jumped through her legs during the 30 second audition.

But the pooch sadly passed away just before Christmas after suffering breathing problems due to a heart condition diagnosed a year ago.

Angela, of Swindon, Wiltshire, said: ‘Taking part in the show is one of my favourite memories of him, particularly the dress rehearsal because it went so absolutely brilliantly.

‘He missed a couple of cues and it didn’t go right in the last performance.

‘I think he enjoyed most of the show. He loved all the girls and the young women who made a fuss but he didn’t like young men, I have no idea why.

‘He always growled when he saw Ant and Dec and yet he would always run up to the girls. He knew who he liked and he liked the young women.’

Teddy, who had amassed 500 rosettes from competitions, passed away on December 21 just hours after performing for residents at The Cheriton Nursing Home, near his home in Swindon.

Angela, who runs Swindon Dog Dancing
School took Teddy to the vets after he ‘wasn’t quite himself’ but fluid
had already built up in his lungs and his heart was enlarged.

She added: ‘I miss him very much. He had a very strong character, he didn’t do something if he didn’t want to.

‘He started dancing at home when he did a couple of little tricks, little twirls, bits and pieces.’

He didn’t win BGT and dogs don’t go to Heaven, poor thing.

I wonder how old he was – it doesn’t say? That’s quite an important element of the story!

“He always growled when he saw Ant Dec” – Fantastic, I love this dog even more now! Rest in peace Teddy, you were a class act!
