David Cameron’s speech at the UN General Assembly revealed that, just like the former Prime Minister, Cameron is also eager to achieve regime change in the crisis-hit countries all around the world particularly in the Middle East and Africa.
“You can sign every human rights declaration in the world. But if you stand by and watch people being slaughtered in their own country, when you could act, then what are those signatures really worth?” Cameron said at the UN.
Analysts believe that after defending the dictators of Tunisia and Egypt– Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and Hosni Mubarak– against the pro-democracy protests of their people, the British government and its close allies have shown that they are good at “standing by and watching people being slaughtered in their own country.”
The Western powers have been supporting the kingdoms of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia as they shoot, suppress and torture anti-regime protesters. They continue defending Israel despite its extensive crimes against the innocent people of Palestine, majority of the crimes criticized by various UN resolutions, which Cameron insists are not enough to merit being labled ‘human rights violations.’
