A night of unrest led to a morning of damage as chaos erupted in downtown Chicago, prompting authorities to discourage travel in the city as widespread damage was reported.
Here are the latest updates as the situation unfolds in Chicago:
Chicago Police Supt. David Brown said access to downtown Chicago will be restricted from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. as the city works to prevent another night of looting and unrest.
The move is part of a multi-layered plan to combat the violence and chaos that unfolded during the hours following a police-involved shooting in the city.
“A heavy police presence will continue throughout the downtown today and until further notice,” Brown said.
Chicago’s mayor and police superintendent are expected to give a live update Monday morning after chaos erupted in downtown Chicago overnight, with widespread looting at countless businesses, property damage and shots fired both at and by police.
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Supt. David Brown will appear at 8 a.m. to “discuss criminal activity overnight in the downtown area,” according to Chicago Police News Affairs.
I’m not sure what set this one off but it doesn’t take much.
Black people nation-wide believe that any police incident where a violent criminal negro gets shot after pulling a gun on cops is a green-light to initiate a loot-fest.
These are animals, folks. Black gangsters have killed dozens of people in Chimpcago over the past month, including over 16 people in one day of bloody street terror. They’re killing each other in record numbers but the only time they decide to cause a fuss is when the cops take down one of their criminal brothas.
This is classic black behaviour. There’s no morality involved in any of this. These pea-brained simians simply see an easy opportunity to loot under the cover of protesting ‘police brutality’.
