FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda China has rejected the new US unilateral sanctions against Chinese companies over financial transactions with Iran.
“China resolutely opposes the United States citing domestic law to unilaterally impose sanctions on Chinese companies or individuals. We believe that what the United States has done will not help resolve the issue and will harm bilateral cooperation on counter-proliferation,” Foreign Ministry spokesman, Qin Gang, said on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the US government added eight Chinese companies, a Dubai firm and two Dubai-based executives to its blacklist for having dealings with Tehran.
The US treasury, state and justice departments made the coordinated move in response to the alleged evasion of US restrictions on weapons, oil and banking transactions with Iran.
“China urges the United States to stop these wrong acts of putting sanctions on Chinese companies and individuals and return to the correct path of anti-proliferation cooperation,” Qin added.
The new sanctions come as the US and other permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany are holding talks with Iran over its nuclear energy program.
Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – the US, France, Britain, Russia, China – plus Germany reached an interim nuclear deal on November 24, 2013, in the Swiss city of Geneva to set the stage for the full settlement of the dispute over Iran’s nuclear energy program. The deal took effect on January 20.
Under the Geneva deal, the six countries agreed to provide Iran with some sanctions relief in exchange for Iran agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities during a six-month period. It was also agreed that no nuclear-related sanctions would be imposed on the Islamic Republic within the same time frame.
