SALEM, Ore. – Donations are pouring in from across the country after the story of a local woman fighting bone cancer went viral on the Internet.
Jan Cline was holding yard sales each weekend in her backyard to raise money to pay her medical bills, but the city of Salem shut her down after a neighbor complained. A city ordinance prohibits people from holding more than three yard sales a year. The city has the ordinance because it says in the past people had set up flea-market-type sales on their property.
The story galvanized people who were outraged the city wouldn’t make an exception for Cline.
As of 10 p.m. Thursday, people have donated $16,500 to help Cline, and earlier in the day Salem’s mayor, Anna Peterson, pledged to help her.

The only reason she is getting any help now is publicity. The hypocritical city truly wouldn’t give a rat’s ass if she dropped dead, but when publicity comes along it’s suddenly all different? Yes.

100% of City Ordinances are UNCONSTITUTIONAL
We have only one law of the land, and no “City Amendments” can be attached.
Home Owner Associations are all illegal as well.
Zoning and Ordinances began in 1913
The Federal Reserve and Income Tax began in 1913

Housing Associations are unconstitutional. My father is actually involved in a major law suit in Florida with the developer of his retirement community. Well two to be honest. It was three. One was settled out of court with a non-disclosure agreement so I don’t know too many details but what I do know is the developer fearing he would loose his monthly income from the association’s fees if the law suit had gone to trial let him out of the association.
The developer had demolished all the amenities of the community in order to build more houses and quadreplex units. He filled in the pool, closed the clubhouse and demolished it, plowed over all the walking and biking trails, tore up the tennis courts, and now the rest of the community is fed up.
They went to my father who helped to organize them and now they are all suing like he did so the developer now is fighting tooth and nail to stop them from being able to leave the association even though it clearly states in it’s bylaws that the residents are allowed to. Hell he tried suing my father as part of this claiming he violated the non-disclosure agreement by helping to organize the residents. A summary ruling by a judge said otherwise so he be fucked.

Knew friends who bought a timeshare in Orlando. Can imagine this is probably the same place.
Seen the same tricks being played across the world. Developer buys up a large parcel of land. Builds the first set of properties on the highest bit of the land, then sells them off as “luxury apartments” with a cityscape view. Once those are all sold, the next block is built, which completely obliterates the view of the first one, as well as all the parking spaces. Too late for the residents – they can’t sell. And it continues again and again.

Nope it isn’t the same place. My father’s home is in an actual retirement community in Lecanto. A lot of developers are like that regrettably.
When I moved to Louisiana for work where the housing boom was still happening there and I could find work as a cabinet and furniture finisher I met some developers who take the cake. I was finishing onsite at the Lake Charles Country Club and this guy Drew (Last name withheld for fear of lawsuits against me knowing I ratted him out to the home buyers having a conscience.) was the primary developer in it. He was building shit boxes that Holmes on Homes would tear down to the foundation, then he would tear the foundation out.
There would voids and air pockets in the slabs that compact cars could be parked in no word of a lie. All the quintiplex units (5 units side by side) had major cracks in the slabs running from the front to the back doors straight from one to the other. Million dollar plus homes were all made out of pressed board in a climate beyond moist and humid. Even with the knock off Tyvek on the walls the board was swelling and falling apart before they could get the siding up to hide it or the Sheetrock on the walls.
Unless you GC your own home these days that is what you deal with.

I gotta be on the city’s side here. The problem we have with the federal government is they bend to whatever sob story needs attending. Its the same thing here. If you make an exception for her, then where do you stop? I feel for her and all, but I’m sure before she got sick she was happy about her neighbors not being able to have permanent garage sales in her neighborhood.
