Congressional, Industry Leaders To Discuss Ohio Energy Sector Job Creation At Summit Hosted By THE HILL

To: ENERGY, LABOR AND STATE EDITORS

COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 1, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — On Wednesday, May 2, THE HILL newspaper will host an Ohio Energy Jobs Summit to explore perspectives on potential economic benefits of energy production. Sponsored by the Coalition for American Jobs, the half-day summit will host energy, policy and economic experts for a balanced discussion.

Ohio voters resoundingly believe that shale energy drilling will bring new jobs to Ohio, according to a January 19 Quinnipiac poll. When asked in the same poll whether the economic value of shale drilling outweighs the environmental concerns, 64% said yes. That said, the environmental impact of hydro-fracturing does weigh on their minds with 43% saying it will damage the environment, 16% disagreeing and 40% unsure.
