Cop Sentenced For Masturbating In Public, Now A Registered Sex-Offender

Santa Clara Police Sgt. Thomas Leipelt has been found guilty of sex-crimes and sentenced to 45 days in jail. He is also now on the sex-offender registry. So what did this cop do to warrant this punishment?

It turns out, Sergeant Leipelt and his girlfriend were having sex in a backroom of his girlfriend’s workplace. Once they were finished, the girlfriend left the room and returned to work. A short while later, a co-worker entered the room, which Officer Leipelt was still in. Instead of leaving, he allegedly pulled out his penis and began masturbating in front of the woman.

According to the Mercury News:

The victim testified that Officer Leipelt propositioned her while naked and masturbating in the Annieglass boutique’s storage room after having sex in the restroom with his girlfriend, who also worked there as a clerk. Leipelt was having a secret extramarital affair that started about a year earlier.

At the time, the Santa Clara Police tried to keep the incident from the public. In fact, Sergeant Leipelt wasn’t arrested until two months later and the public didn’t learn of his deviant ways until months afterwards. The official reason, according to Lt. Kurt Clarke, of the Santa Clara Police Department, was that the sexual assault was a “personnel matter“, and that the public did not need to know.

In fact, he was more concerned with the officer’s privacy rights, than the risk the officer posed to the general public, citing the officer’s protection under the “Police Officer’s Bill of Rights”.

At least now, with Sergeant Thomas Leipelt being known as a registered sex-offender, the public can be informed about the threat he poses to women everywhere, despite the Santa Clara Police Department’s efforts to withhold the information.
