Copblock Radio EP 126: “Copblockers Speak Out”

This week on Copblock Radio our hosts were myself (Severin Freeman) from Lehigh Valley Copblock, Matt Taylor of Carbon County Copblock, and our very special guest host, Michael Storm! Our show was jammed packed with guests this week, however Asa J couldn’t make it, but you can read his take here.

We started off the show by interviewing & introducing our co-host. Michael Storm is a broadcast professional of more than 20 years, including top 50 markets in radio and television as a host, producer, and a programmer. Michael has been a student of economic theory and the law for over 30 years with an emphasis on the geo-political and socio-economic impact on the legal rights and duties of the individual and The State in modern and historic society. Michael is an activist for human rights, informed consent, corporate and political responsibility, and police accountability. Michael advocates for the complete abolition of the modern paradigm of profit driven policing to be replaced by a strict complaint/response system of voluntary citizen responders.

Next up, we recapped the two stories which started a chain of events leading to the shootings in Dallas (and the post-show shootings in Baton Rouge). The first was the murder of Philando Castile in Minnesota. The second was the murder of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge. Both men were shot point-blank several times by police officers for no reason– Castile was a passenger in a vehicle and notified the officers he was reaching for his wallet, Sterling was already being held down by police with both of his hands clearly restrained.

Following that recap, we moved on to discuss how the Dallas sniper was killed with a drone and how the shooting was a form of blowback and murder. We also touched on the militarization of police and Obama’s call for greater federal control of police.

The rest of the show was taken up by our guests: Derrick J, Ademo Freeman, Ryan Scott, & Amanda B. We discussed their takes on the Dallas shootings, the sniper drone, active protests, & what this means for activism as a whole.
