Countdown starts for completion of N. Azadegan oilfield

TEHRAN, Dec. 08 (Shana) – Extraction of 75,000 barrels of crude oil from North Azadegan oilfield will before January 2016, , contractor of the field’s development project said.
Keramat Behbahani said the pre-startup operation of the field is expected to take less than a month and once successfully carried out production of the envisaged 75,000 will start from the field.
China’s CNPCI has agreed to return to Iran to develop North Azadegan oil field which Iran shares with Iraq.

Last year, Iran expelled CNPCI from North Azadegan for its failure to respect its obligations.
Behbahani said Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) is conducting studies for the second phase development of the field.

He said the gas section of the field is under development and recovery of gas from its reservoirs will start in the near future.
Iranian Ministry of Petroleum plans to focus on oil production from Yadavaran, North Azadegan, South Azadegan, North Yaran and South Yaran oil fields. Iran shares all these fields with Iraq.

Iran is also to launch Persian Gulf Star Refinery to increase the country’s gas production by 12 million liters a day.
Iran currently imports 5 ml/d of gasoline to meet its growing demand. The startup of Persian Gulf Star Refinery would let Iran even export 3 to 4 ml/d of gasoline.
