The Islamabad High Court on Friday granted the ex-military ruler bail until April 18th, when he has been ordered to appear in person again.
This is Musharraf’s second court appearance since his return to Pakistan on March 24, after four years of self-imposed exile in Dubai and London, to contest general elections in May.
The general faces treason charges for subverting the constitution by sacking judges in 2007, and imposing emergency rule.
Musharraf has been granted three bail extensions in the judges’ case, while he has also been bailed over the 2007 assassination of slain Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and a Baluch rebel leader in 2006.
Musharraf attended the Friday court session wearing a bullet-proof jacket and under unprecedented security measures.
Main roads have been shut, with heavily-armed paramilitary police and plain-clothes intelligence agents present around the Islamabad High Court.
Snipers were also on the rooftops to protect the former military ruler who pro-Taliban militants have threatened to assassinate.
Musharraf has been approved to stand in one constituency in the May 11 general polls.
