Crashed Russian An-148 airliner exploded after hitting the ground

nsnbc : Investigators concluded that the Russian Antonov An-148 passenger jet that  had crashed outside Moscow on Sunday, killing all 71 on board, did not break up in mid-air, but rather than an explosion occurred when the plane hit the ground, said Svetlana Petrenko, spokeswoman for the Investigative Committee on Monday.

Saratov Airlines flight 6W703_Moscow obl, Russia, Feb 11, 2018“It has been established that the aircraft was intact at the time of its descent and there was no combustion. The explosion occurred when the plane hit the ground,” said Petrenko.

On February 11, the Antonov An-148 passenger plane operated by Saratov Airlines (Moscow to Orsk route, in the Orenburg Region) on Flight 6W703 that departed from Domodedovo airport vanished from radars a few minutes after take-off. Fragments of the plane were found near the village of Stepanovskoye in the Moscow Region’s Ramensky district.

There were 65 passengers and six crew members onboard the passenger jet. There were no survivors. According to latest updates, rescue workers have found more than 300 plane’s fragments at the crash site.

With investigators being confident that the plane didn’t explode or break up in flight, it is still uncertain what actually did cause the fatal air disaster. Investigators are looking into several of the more likely scenarios.

Among  the most likely initial scenarios are icing, the sudden loss of one or more engines, problems with the fuel, or other, mechanical problems. Saratov Airlines, meanwhile, has grounded its fleet of six Antonov An-148s until an investigation uncovers the causes of Sunday’s deadly crash.

The passenger jet did not issue distress signals to air traffic control after takeoff and its demise four minutes later, according to a recording published on YouTube by the Ura.ru news agency.

Both flight recorders have been found at the Antonov An-148 crash site in the Moscow region, a source in the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) also confirmed. Both the Flight Data Recorder (FDA) and the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) have reportedly been located.

nsnbc international reiterates its call for the release of all data and verifiable evidence to the public and media for independent investigations and verification. Black boxes have not been designed to keep the public and victims of air disasters in the dark.
