Last week, President Obama signed executive order (EO) “Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity” which outlines “the need for improved cybersecurity” because of “repeated cyber intrusions into critical infrastructure.”

The EO creates a communicative relationship between the US government and private sector corporations to share digital information regarding customers; as well as expanding the Enhanced Cybersecurity Services (ECS) program that partners with the Department of Defense (DoD), the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Recent cyber-attacks coming from China and Anonymous have created the perfect temperament for the US government to protect American digital infrastructure against “America’s enemies”.

Under Operation Last Resort, (OLR) Anonymous has successfully hacked into the Federal Reserve Bank, the Department of Justice (DoJ), the US Supreme Courts website and the US Sentencing Commission (USSC).

Regardless of the EO, Anonymous hacked into the website of Goldman Sachs, syphoning out sensitive data of names, address and bank account information of those involved with the technocratic institution.

The US State Department’s website was taken offline as part of OLR.
The Zionist controlled government of Israel was also targeted by Anonymous with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Bank of Israel and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs being attacked.
Anonymous announced their alliance with Gaza by stating: “… [When] the government of Israel publicly threatened to sever all Internet and other telecommunications into and out of Gaza they crossed a line in the sand. As the former dictator of Egypt Mubarack learned the hard way –- we are ANONYMOUS and NO ONE shuts down the Internet on our watch…”

Jeremy Hammond, member of Anonymous and hacker who allegedly published internal data taken from Strategic Forecasting Inc., (Stratfor), produced a statement condemning the US government for prosecuting him. LulzSec and AntiSec, divisions of Anonymous, participated in the syphoning of documents from Stratfor, the Arizona Department of Public Safety and the security firm HBGary Federal.

Hector Xaiver Monsegur of LulzSec worked with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). LulzSec was also responsible for taking down the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) website, FoxNews, PBS, Sony and several gamer’s sites.

During the operation Monsegur made available to other alleged LulzSec/Anonymous hackers the transference of hacked data — specifically, email data hacked from the private intelligence analysis firm Stratfor. It is this data which the whistleblower organization WikiLeaks has recently started publishing.

Attorney General Eric Holder has released a report entitled, “Administration Strategy on Mitigating the Theft of US Trade Secrets”, to bring to light cyber-threats on US digital infrastructure created by hacktivists such as Anonymous.

The report explains how the American economy, food distribution, entrepreneurial progress and ingenuity are under attack by hacktivists that seek to have an advantage over the global economy through steal trade secrets to sell on the black market. “Additionally, there are indications that U.S. companies, law firms, academia, and financial institutions are experiencing cyber intrusion activity against electronic repositories containing trade secret information.3 Trade secret theft threatens American businesses, undermines national security, and places the security of the U.S. economy in jeopardy. These acts also diminish U.S. export prospects around the globe and put American jobs at risk.”

Several agencies of the US government have been empowered to deal with this problem; such as the Department of Commerce, Department of Defense (DoD), DoJ, DHS, Department of Treasury, Department of State and the US Trade Representative.

Enhancement of tools at the US government’s disposal will be utilized to prevent foreign governments and hacktivitists from acquiring “trade secrets” with the pursuit of “domestic investigators” and “international law enforcement” agencies to allow the DoJ and FBI to track down the perpetrators and jail them.

The report goes on to point out: “Cyberspace provides relatively small-scale actors an opportunity to become players in economic espionage. Under-resourced governments or corporations could build relationships with hackers to develop customized malware or remote-access exploits to steal sensitive US economic or technology information, just as certain FIS have already done. Similarly, political or social activists may use the tools of economic espionage against US companies, agencies, or other entities, with disgruntled insiders leaking information about corporate trade secrets or critical US technology to ‘hacktivist’ groups like WikiLeaks.”

Other possible “game changers’ are identified: “Political or social activists also may use the tools of economic espionage against US companies, agencies or other entities. The self-styled whistleblowing group WikiLeaks has already published computer files provided by corporate insiders indicating allegedly illegal or unethical behavior at a Swiss bank, a Netherlands-based commodities company, and an international pharmaceutical trade association. LulzSec — another hacktivist group — has exfiltrated data from several businesses that it posted for public viewing on its website.”

Congress has brought the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) back to life after Obama’s recent State of the Union address. With the US government’s ability to hide on the shadows and technocratic institutions being exposed under threat, CISPA promises to halt actions taken by hacktivists whether they be Anonymous or foreign governments.

Mainstream media is a pushing the “digital global village” meme to scare the populace into calling for more big brother controls on the internet. Citing that the effected entities show a clear and present danger to the cybersecurity of the globe is becoming a prominent fear tactic.

CISPA has returned without any changes and will be the Congressional compliment to the EO Obama signed to prevent the free flow of the internet under the guise of protecting digital infrastructure from hacktivists. And the point is that regardless of whether or not Anonymous is government-sponsored, their actions have led to the demise of the internet as we know it.
