Boxing Champ Victor Ortiz is on “Dancing With the Stars” for two reasons this season, according to TMZ on March 4. One, he wants to have fun and, two, he wants to win.
Victor is confident he has the skills to be the next mirror ball trophy winner. When asked about Lindsay Arnold, one of the new pros and Victor’s dance partner, he repeatedly said, “Lindsay’s awesome!” Then he giggled and quipped, “She’s slightly scarier than my actual boxing coaches.” He certainly giggles and laughs a lot for a guy known as “Vicious Victor” in the boxing ring.
When asked about competition from comedian Andy Dick, Victor broke a big smile. “Andy Dick, I love him! At this point, I’m just here to have a lot of fun with everybody. I mean, I’m definitely winning it.”
Commenting on the fact that it’s Lindsay’s first season as a pro on DWTS, Victor feels an obligation to work hard to make it a success. “Lindsay’s going to work hard and I have to be right there working just as hard if not harder. Lindsay, I’m not going to let you down!”
Victor Ortiz may have the inside track on a win. Athletes do very well on “Dancing With the Stars” and boxers work hard on footwork. He’s small, light and can move easily, classed as a light welterweight in the boxing ring. Right now, Victor is rated as one of the three best welterweight fighters in the world.
