The Brotherhood members face arrest in connection with the July 8 violence outside the Republican Guard headquarters in Cairo, which led to 80 deaths.
Badie’s deputy, Mahmoud Ezzat, and party leaders, Essam El-Erian and Mohamed el-Beltagy, are also among the suspects.
However, Gehad Haddad, a spokesman for the Brotherhood, said none of its leaders have been arrested.
Haddad noted that the charges are aimed at breaking up protests and an ongoing vigil held in support of the ousted president, Mohamed Morsi.
Thousands of Brotherhood followers have been maintaining a vigil near a mosque in northeast Cairo demanding the reinstatement of Morsi.
Other reports said several leading Brotherhood figures are already in detention and warrants have been issued for many more.
Egypt’s judicial sources also noted that 200 people have been indicted for bloodshed on July 8. They will be held for 15 days pending investigations into accusations of murder, incitement to violence and carrying unlicensed weapons.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced that Morsi is being held in a safe place without any charges formally leveled against him yet.
Morsi was unseated by the military on July 3, and Adly Mansour, the chief justice of Egypt’s Supreme Constitutional Court, was sworn in as the interim president of Egypt the following day.
Tensions in Egypt are soaring following the killing of dozens of protesters across the North African country over the past few days. Since last week, Egypt has been the scene of rival rallies and clashes between thousands of the supporters and opponents of the ousted president.
