Erdoğan’s new challenge: Muslims must cooperate on Western Thrace, Kashmir and Palestine

The provocations against Greece by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan continued in a speech he made on Friday about Islamophobia and deprivation of rights in western Thrace.

Speaking at the 12th Ministerial Briefing of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Erdoğan underlined that racist attacks and hate speech against Muslims are on the rise.

More specifically, he spoke of fascist regulations restricting the freedom of worship of Muslims and of interference with the headscarf, hijab and beard that are being attempted to become normal.

“As Turkey, we attach great importance to the fight against Islamophobia,” the Turkish president noted, calling on the media to act with a sense of responsibility.

He called it imperative for Muslims to “stand up more vigorously for the Palestinian cause” and “to better explain to the world the disenfranchisement that takes place there.”

“We cannot overcome the attacks without increasing our cooperation on all fronts, from Palestine to Kashmir, from Cyprus to western Thrace,” concluded the Turkish president.
