Awake Goy Facebook has blocked Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene from posting or commenting for 24 hours after one of her posts about COVID was flagged by the platform for violating its rules on “misinformation that could cause physical harm.”
Greene shared a partial screenshot of the Facebook post that led to these restrictions. Based on this screenshot, it appears to be a repost of information that she posted to Twitter before her permanent Twitter account suspension yesterday.
In this now-removed Twitter thread, Georgia Republican Rep Greene stated that we have “crossed into a new time dating method…”Before Covid” and “After Covid,” shared data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) managed Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), and alleged that “extremely high amounts of covid vaccine deaths are ignored and government forced vaccine mandates increase.”
Facebook’s censorship of Greene’s account means that she’s temporarily blocked from posting updates to or communicating with the audience of more than 407,000 followers that she’s built on the platform.
Facebook’s decision to throttle Greene comes less than 24 hours after her permanent suspension from Twitter resulted in her losing access to the 465,000 followers she had built on that platform.
“Facebook has joined Twitter in censoring me,” Greene said in response to Facebook’s restriction of her account. “This is beyond censorship of speech. I’m an elected Member of Congress representing over 700,000 US tax paying citizens and I represent their voices, values, defend their freedoms, and protect the Constitution.”
Greene blasted both platforms for flagging information from VAERS as “misinformation,” called out Facebook and Twitter for acting as “authorities of information and misinformation,” and warned that “when Big Tech decides what political speech of elected Members is accepted and what’s not then they are working against our government and against the interest of our people.”
Greene is the second elected official in the US to be permanently banned from a Big Tech platform with the first being former President Donald Trump who was permanently banned by Twitter in January 2021 and indefinitely suspended by several other Big Tech platforms within days of Twitter booting him.
While Greene has faced heavy censorship on Big Tech platforms, she has been building a sizable audience of hundreds of thousands of followers on alt-tech platforms such as Gab (where she has been a member since January 2021) and GETTR (where she has been a member since July 2021).
