Speaking on Monday in Washington, Ron Hosko, the assistant director of the FBI’s criminal investigative division said the three-day operation covered 76 cities and involved 230 federal, state and local law enforcement groups.
“Sex trafficking among children remains one of the most prevalent, violent and unconscionable crimes in this country,” Hosko said.
“Those who exploit children should know that we, this team, will continue to seek them out and to bring them to justice.”
Most of the arrests were made in San Francisco, Detroit, Denver and New Orleans and most of the victims were girls between the ages of 13 to 17.
However, those arrested appear to be low-level operators and not the main perpetrators, according to Dr. Kevin Barrett, a Wisconsin based activist and journalist.
Dr. Barrett says rogue elements of various police and intelligence services, as well as top-tier organized crime outfits, employ child prostitution rings to obtain blackmail material on politicians, judges, military and intelligence officers in the US.
Elite pedophile networks connected to elements of the CIA, including the “Finders of Lost Children” and the Franklin Scandal group, have operated shamelessly and without fear of prosecution for decades, Barrett wrote in an article published on Press TV’s website on Tuesday.
Since 2003, some 1,350 people have been convicted in child trafficking and related cases and 2,700 children have been rescued in raids across the US, the FBI said.
