Fighter jet crashes in India, pilots safe

The military aircraft was on a routine training sortie when it developed a technical glitch in the engine and went down near Bhind town of the state. The two pilots flying the plane ejected to safety.

The IAF has ordered an inquiry to ascertain the reasons behind the crash.

The Air Force operates a fleet of 51 Mirage aircraft from the Maharajpura air base in Gwalior.

The aircraft started joining the Indian Air Force fleet in the mid-80s, and have had a very good flight safety record, according to an IAF spokesperson.
