Fire in remand jail cell

A prisoner at Melbourne’s Metropolitan Remand Centre has set fire to his cell.

Country Fire Authority firefighters were called to the jail complex at 8.35pm (AEST) on Tuesday to help extinguish the fire.

A Corrections Victoria spokesman said the fire was quickly put out and police were on site.
