Foreign media reporters are obliged to adopt Israeli lies

Days of Palestine, Jerusalem -Subcommittee of Israeli occupation Knesset has questioned foreign media reporters over claims of media bias regarding the coverage of Israeli violence against Palestinians.

On Tuesday, the Foreign Press Association (FPA) expressed disappointment after its members were summoned to the subcommittee hearing in the Knesset to be reviewed for recent coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The Knesset subcommittee hearing was called to discuss claims that foreign media coverage “in the long-term erodes the legitimacy of the Israeli fight against terrorism.”

In a statement, FPA lashed back, saying it disagreed with the hearing’s basic premise, which “presupposes two things: that the foreign media are biased and that that supposed bias undermines Israeli ability to quell terrorist attacks.

“We do not agree that the foreign media are biased, and the legitimacy of Israeli campaign against terrorism is entirely determined by how the Israeli occupation conducts that campaign. It has nothing to do with the foreign media.”

The hearing was called after Israeli Government Press Office (GPO) threatened to revoke foreign reporters’ press credentials last week when US news network CBS ran a headline reading: “Three Palestinians killed as daily violence grinds on.”

Threatening journalists and editors, who do not believe the Israeli lies, GPO Director Nitzan Chen said on his Facebook: “We will consider revoking the press credentials of journalists and editors who write headlines that are contrary to reality.”
