Former prisoner dies due to medical negligence

Former Palestinian prisoners announced dead on Tuesday morning after long suffering from chronic diseases he caught due to medical negligence in Israeli jails.

Head of the Palestinian Committee of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Qaraqe identified the martyr as Mazen al-Mughrabi, a 45-year-old resident of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.

Qaraqe noted that the former prisoner died at Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah after suffering from incurable kidney failure.

Al-Mughrabi, who was released from the Israeli prisons around two years ago after serving a five-year sentence.

He started suffering kidney pains while in prison, but due to “medical negligence,” his medical condition deteriorated until he reached a hopeless condition of the disease.

While earlier reports by local news outlets claimed that Al-Mughrabi had been on hunger strike in solidarity with some 1,600 imprisoned Palestinian hunger strikers who entered their 16th day without food on Tuesday, Qaraqe denied this news.

Rights groups have widely condemned Israel for a “deliberate policy of neglect” of Palestinian prisoners.
