He has one of the most recognisable faces in the world. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for his waxwork.

As Madame Tussauds staff give George Clooney a makeover ahead of Sunday’s Oscars, it is difficult not to notice that the actor’s wax counterpart doesn’t quite share his distinctive features.

The cheekbones appear a little too defined and the face a little too smooth for the 50-year-old star.

But at least the hair looks the part
after designers gave it a ‘silver fox’ update. Clooney’s waxwork was
created in 2004, when his hair was much darker.

Clooney is nominated for Best Actor for his role in The Descendants and hopes to add the statuette to his Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Syriana.

It could be third time lucky for Clooney who was previously nominated for the best actor prize for roles in Michael Clayton and Up in the Air.

Clooney’s waxwork double at the London attraction will be swapping its usual dark suit for a black and white Hawaiian shirt in homage to his Honolulu-based character Matt King.

Hair stylist Gemma Sim and colourist Gemma Fee also gave the figure a makeover to bring it up to date.

Clooney’s figure first appeared in 2004 when his hair was much darker, so it has been updated to reflect his current ‘silver fox’ look.

Liz Edwards, of Madame Tussauds, said: ‘George is one of the world’s most successful actors and we wish him well at the Academy Awards.

‘With the ceremony taking place this weekend we wanted to make sure that he is looking his best and are confident our guests are going to love this silver fox makeover.

‘He’s guaranteed plenty of attention regardless, whether he is named leading actor or not, as he is one of our most popular personalities.’

Clooney won the Golden Globe for best actor for the same role last month.

Is it just me that doesn’t really see the difference, aside from the model looking less human and more wax (for obvious reasons)?

The guy in the right picture is certainly the better actor.

Went to Madame Tussauds on Saturday, it’s great! I don’t think George Clooney’s model looks that bad, their Christiano Ronaldo one is worse lol.

The descendants was so good!

Awful…George is very very handsome that wax thing does not look like him…..

I think the one on the right is a better actor.

To be fair DM its not a bad effort!

Well I think they need to melt the wax start again…….nothing like him!!!!

Thunderbirds are go!

Oh I love George so much!
