A Greek-American former police officer in South Florida honored “American Heroes Day” last month.
Speros Georgedakis, the founder and CEO of Good Greek Moving and Storage, sponsored veterans and first responders with reduced ticket prices at a special concert at the South Florida Fair in West Palm Beach.
The event offered all active military, veterans, firefighters, law enforcement personnel, frontline workers and their families the chance to buy a ticket to the fair for just $7 per person.
Greek American Speaks to Honor Heroes
The day also featured a benefit concert called “Songfest for Vets.” The former officer spoke at the event after the presentation of colors by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard and the singing of the National Anthem by Miss South Florida 2020 Juliette Ashley Valle.
“On behalf of Good Greek Moving and Storage, I want to thank all the veterans, first responders and all emergency response personnel for their very important contributions,” said Georgedakis. “As a former police officer, this is a special day for me, which is why we like to sponsor Heroes Day.”
The CEO said “Every day is Heroes Day, as far as I am concerned. We’re proud to support this event and hope everyone has a great time.”
Songfest for Vets raised money to support the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund, the VFW Veterans Village, and the Paws 4 Liberty organizations. The Veterans Administration also had a booth at the event to offer services to veterans, including getting a COVID-19 vaccination.
Greek American Supports Several Community Events
Georgedakis’ company has supported community events in a variety of ways. His team gains its greatest strength by following “The Good Greek Way,” an ethos of faith, honesty, strength and courage, according to Georgedakis.
Charitable activities by Good Greek include a massive campaign on Christmas to deliver donated toys and goods to the United Way Palm Beach distribution center. Good Greek also supports the Maddie’s Fight Foundation which aids families of children with cancer and Holiday Toy Drives hosted by WTVJ-NBC Miami, the Children’s Healing Institute and the 105.5 FM Mo and Sally Morning Show.
Georgedakis, the son of Greek immigrants, grew up in New York where he harnessed a drive to excel. During college, his studies focused on Law Enforcement.
He landed in South Florida after college to serve on the North Miami Police Department. He became a member of the force’s S.W.A.T. team. After nearly a decade as a civil servant, he switched gears with a drive to conquer the world of entrepreneurship.
At an early age, Spero developed a strong work ethic and began to stand out as a leader. He cultivated a desire to help others, and most importantly, treat people with respect. Staying true to his simple yet proven principles has served “The Good Greek” well throughout his successful career.
CEO Focuses on Service to Others
Georgedakis has a career rooted deeply in leadership and service to others. “All experiences are learning experiences,” said Georgedakis. A partnership gone array, led the CEO to found Good Greek Moving and Storage.
When he is not managing the moving company, he might be found attending his twin girls’ piano recitals or catching a Marlins game. According to Georgedakis, he sincerely believes in the philosophies of servitude and giving back. He spends countless hours as well as making donations to local charitable organizations to show his support for the community in which he lives and operates his business.
