Gunman riding a motorbike opened fire on a police patrolling van on Sunday in the eastern bypass area of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan Province, killing three policemen.
The shooting came a day after gunmen on motorcycles shot dead eight people at a laundry in a busy area of Quetta city.
Meanwhile, two security guards were killed in a drive-by attack in the southern city of Karachi, located in the Sindh Province, late on Sunday night.
According to local officials, two gunmen riding a motorbike opened fire on a police vehicle, killing two policemen including a senior police official, near Nagan Chowrangi area of Karachi.
The Pakistani officials noted that the incident happened while the policemen were on a routine patrol in the area.
The assailants managed to escape the scene of the assassination and no group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
Thousands of Pakistanis have lost their lives in bombings and other militant attacks since 2001 when Pakistan joined an alliance with the United States in the so-called war against terrorism.
Since late 2009, there has been a surge in militant attacks in Pakistan and thousands more have been displaced by the wave of violence and militancy sweeping across the country.
