HOAX: If you think Monsanto just patented GMO pot, you might be smoking crack

(NaturalNews) There’s a viral meme running around the ‘net today that says Monsanto just patented GMO pot. I looked into it, and this turns out to be a hoax started by a parody website. (You gotta love ’em.)

What makes this hoax so viral is that it seems like precisely the kind of thing Monsanto might really do: Take over the legalized pot market with its own monopoly seeds and strains, all while engineering toxins in the GMO pot that would damage the brains of those who smoke it. Can you imagine the brain damage that would be caused by inhaling glyphosate chemicals sprayed on Roundup-Ready marijuana?

According to Monsanto itself, however, the GMO pot rumor is nothing but a rumor. Then again, Monsanto also claims on its own “hoaxes” page that GMO foods are 100% safe and healthy, so it’s hard to trust anything this company says. I’m pretty sure their entire P.R. department has to smoke crack just to show up at work each day and collect a paycheck from the world’s most evil corporation.

But there is one interesting link between marijuana and Monsanto that is true. According to Mint Press News:

Monsanto and marijuana do have one other, real connection: Fezisa Mdibi, writing for Africa’s Mail & Guardian, reported last month that police in South Africa used Kilo Max — an herbicide based on glyphosate, the chemical Monsanto developed for use in Roundup — to destroy cannabis fields grown by traditional farmers, who call the plant “dagga.”

Nearby villages found their “maize fields destroyed and people complaining about falling ill” after police sprayed Kilo Max.

Mounting evidence suggests glyphosate can be linked to cancer, including a recent study by the World Health Organization.

I’m posting this story because when it comes to reporting on Monsanto, we strive to get all the facts straight: NO, Monsanto hasn’t patented GM pot. But YES, Monsanto is the world’s most evil corporation engaged in the widespread poisoning of humanity, the destruction of the world’s agricultural soils and the collapse of global seed diversity.

All that’s completely true, and if it gives you a headache to ponder, you may want to toke on a non-GMO dooby passed on the left-hand side.

For the record, I don’t personally smoke weed, and I don’t advocate smoking weed, but I also think the failed war on drugs was a complete fiasco, and I’m totally opposed to the government criminalization of any natural plant. If people want to smoke weed in their own homes, that’s their own business. In my book, this falls under the same category as Caitlyn Jenner: Whatever she wants to do with her own life is her business, not mine. Hence, I’m one of the very few people who consistently supports individual liberty and the right to choose your own lifestyle and habits.

In late 2013, Adams launched the Natural News Forensic Food Lab, where he conducts atomic spectroscopy research into food contaminants using high-end ICP-MS instrumentation. With this research, Adams has made numerous food safety breakthroughs such as revealing rice protein products imported from Asia to be contaminated with toxic heavy metals like lead, cadmium and tungsten. Adams was the first food science researcher to document high levels of tungsten in superfoods. He also discovered over 11 ppm lead in imported mangosteen powder, and led an industry-wide voluntary agreement to limit heavy metals in rice protein products to low levels by July 1, 2015.

In addition to his lab work, Adams is also the (non-paid) executive director of the non-profit Consumer Wellness Center (CWC), an organization that redirects 100% of its donations receipts to grant programs that teach children and women how to grow their own food or vastly improve their nutrition. With a background in science and software technology, Adams is the original founder of the email newsletter technology company known as Arial Software. Using his technical experience combined with his love for natural health, Adams developed and deployed the content management system currently driving NaturalNews.com. He also engineered the high-level statistical algorithms that power SCIENCE.naturalnews.com, a massive research resource now featuring over 10 million scientific studies.

Adams is well known for his incredibly popular consumer activism video blowing the lid on fake blueberries used throughout the food supply. He has also exposed “strange fibers” found in Chicken McNuggets, fake academic credentials of so-called health “gurus,” dangerous “detox” products imported as battery acid and sold for oral consumption, fake acai berry scams, the California raw milk raids, the vaccine research fraud revealed by industry whistleblowers and many other topics.

Adams has also helped defend the rights of home gardeners and protect the medical freedom rights of parents. Adams is widely recognized to have made a remarkable global impact on issues like GMOs, vaccines, nutrition therapies, human consciousness.

In addition to his activism, Adams is an accomplished musician who has released ten popular songs covering a variety of activism topics.
