If the US were solvent, they would not need to live on credit cards.
Selling bonds with promise of Interest paid on the principle at maturity, is the US living on credit cards.
When others who are funding the US’s blow currency like a drunken sailor in a titty bar insanity lose faith in the US’s bonds (credit cards) and start selling them, the US’s answer is not to try to make a realistic budget and live within their means, but to use new credit cards to cover the debt on the old credit cards.

How you think that’s going to work out?
