The four senior officials were assassinated in a complex and first-of-its-kind operation on Wednesday to simultaneously eliminate several commanders in Gaza City and Khan Yunis.

The targets were a key part of the Hamas military leadership and were considered close to the Hamas’ military wing commander Muhammad Def.

The first commander, Bassem Issa, was the commander of Hamas’ Gaza City division since 2017. He was the brother Marwan Issa, Hamas’ chief of staff.

His death will “significantly affect the functioning of Hamas,” the Shin Bet said.

The second terrorist, Jamaa Tahla, was the head of the Cyber Network and leader of the Hamas terrorist missile improvement project. He also held the research and development portfolio in Hamas.

Tahla was the right-hand man of Muhammad Def and the central leader of Hamas’ military build-up.

“Hitting him is a significant blow to Hamas’ intensification project,” the Shin Bet noted.

Gamal Zabda was the head of the Development and Projects Department at Hamas’ production headquarters.

He was the main mind behind Hamas’ rocket array. He held a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, specialized in aerodynamics, and had training in a variety of technological fields and was a major and significant source of knowledge at Hamas’ production headquarters.

He was one of the senior members of Hamas’ research and development division and was involved in promoting key projects in Hamas’ military build-up.

Khazem Khatib was the head of the Engineers Department in Hamas’ Production Division. He also served as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Production Division.

Sami Radwan, head of the Technical Department of Hamas’ Military Intelligence, and Walid Shemali, head of the industrial equipment department in Hamas’ production system, were also killed in the attack during which Hamas’ main Research and Development facility and much equipment were destroyed.
