The State Department on Saturday released 550 more Hillary Clinton emails from her period as secretary of state, including 84 that were marked as classified, the American political magazine Politico reported.
Two of the emails, whose contents were marked “secret,” concerned American policy toward Israel, including an August 2012 exchange between top US officials over a cross-border attack from the Sinai peninsula into Israel, and a September 2012 exchange between Clinton and senior Mideast adviser Dennis Ross.
But nearly every word in the emails is redacted in the publicly available copies released by the State Department, to the point that the content of the emails cannot be discerned.
The Ross email, which dealt with US-Israel tensions at the time, will be declassified in 2037. The other email, whose subject line was at one point “Molho on Sinai tension,” a reference to top Netanyahu adviser Yitzhak Molcho, and was shared among officials including US ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro and Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman, will be declassified in 2032.
The latest batch of released emails also concern high-level Obama administration discussions on Syria, Libya and China.
