Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) is looking to generate some five million online transactions in the first year of its rollout of e-commerce services.
According to The Jakarta Post’s report Monday, the state-owned Indonesian bank hopes the deployment would help bring in some 250 billion rupiah (US$25 million) worth of transactions. Darmadi Susanta, director of consumer and retail at BNI, added the e-commerce services include SMS banking and DOKU Wallet, the latter a collaboration with Indonesian payment service provider PT Nusa Satu Inti Artha.
“Our BNI ATM card holders will use the Virtual Card Number (VCN) in doing [online] transactions,” Susanta said in the report.
He added the bank’s e-commerce push will be supported by partners including MasterCard International and online shopping sites such as Blandja.com.
