Iran Air CEO: Airbus to finance Iran’s aircraft purchases

MNA – Iran Air (HOMA) CEO Farzaneh Sharafbafi said France’s Airbus will undertake financing of aircraft purchases by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Sharafbafi, Chairwoman and CEO of Iran’s national carrier Iran Air (Homa), made the remarks on the sidelines of Iran Trans Expo in Tehran.

The official highlighted that she was slated to attend a joint meeting on the issue with executives of Airbus Aerospace company.

“Despite the fact that monitoring of US Congress over aircraft purchasing contract might delay issuance of licenses by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the move will exert no effect on Iran’s purchases,” she underscored.

On December 15, US lawmakers approved a bill that will bring the sales of American planes to Iran under the close scrutiny of the Congress.

It would require the Treasury Department to report to Congress on Iranian purchases of US aircraft and how those sales would be financed.

Iran Trans Expo is a three-day event being held on December 17-19, 2017 at the Tehran International Exhibition & Convention Centre in Tehran. The event showcases products like equipment & facilities of rail way including rail, wagon & car technology, catering, passenger & freight stations, lighting, technology, electricity & electronic, operators, contractors, etc. in the Logistics & Transportation industry.
