Iran joins UN conference on financing for development

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Head of Iranian Investment Organization Mohammad-Khazaie joined the UN conference on financing for development in New York.

During the meeting he outlined Iran’s policies to mobilize internal sources and efficient use of the sources to boost the country’s potential.

He also called poverty as a global challenge and reiterated that eradicating poverty should be on top of 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

He further continued that terrorism, extremism and violence are fundamental obstacles to sustainable development, which resulted in reverse outcome in sustainable development.

The Iranian official also called on international financial organizations to support 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and seriously finance the plan.

He further called on the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) to increase participation in the UN plan.

Senior representative of countries, international financial institutions and representatives of different UN organization are going to discuss strategies for 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the UN conference.
