Iran Judiciary chief meets with Rohani

Speaking at a press conference following the Wednesday meeting, Larijani said, “I believe the [three] branches of government must cooperate and interact with each other in order to better serve the people of Iran.”

“We at the Judicial branch, while stressing the independence of all government branches, voice readiness for cooperation with the Executive branch,” said Amoli Larijani.

He congratulated Rohani over his victory in Iran’s 11th presidential election, praising Iranians for their mass participation in the vote and for creating the “political epic.”

Rohani, for his part, described the meeting as a first step toward cooperation and pointed to the important role of the Judiciary in safeguarding the rights of the nation, freedoms and justice.

Rohani emerged victorious in the presidential election of June 14, which was marked by a high voter turnout, winning 50.7 percent of a total of the more than 36 million ballots counted.

He currently represents Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in the country’s Supreme National Security Council, is a member of the Expediency Council and the Assembly of Experts, and is also president of the Expediency Council’s Center for Strategic Research.
