The RoboCup IranOpen 2012 competitions opened on Thursday, hosting 395 teams.
In addition to Iran, 13 countries including India, the United States, China, Germany, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Britain, Greece, Mexico, the Czech Republic, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkey are participating in the international competitions.
Flying robots, humanoids, rescue robots, soccer player robots and submarine robots compete in the three day event.
“Iran is the fourth country in the world in terms of winning most awards at different international Robocup competitions,” Morteza Mousakhani, Head of Iran’s RoboCup Committee, told a Press TV correspondent.
He added that the IranOpen competitions have provided a good opportunity for different teams to test their achievements in robotics.
RoboCup is an international robotics competition founded in 1997. The aim of the competition is to promote robotics and artificial intelligence research.
