Awake Goy New York, May 26, IRNA – Deputy to Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Gholam Hossein Dehqani stressed here that countries’ national sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence should be respected during UN peacekeeping missions.
Dehqani made the remarks in a briefing at the United Nations (UN) Security Council on Wednesday.
As President of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Iran welcomes cooperation between the UN and regional organizations including African Union (AU) in the fields of keeping international peace and security within the framework of the UN Chapter VIII that is Regional Arrangements, he said.
On behalf of NAM, Dehqani stressed importance of doing or continuing peacekeeping activities after contentment of the host countries without use of any pressure.
