Awake Goy Tasnim– The Louvre-Lens, an art museum in France’s northern city of Lens, is going to display Iranian works of art from the era of Qajar dynasty, French officials said.
The Louvre-Lens museum is going to host an exhibition of works of art found in Iran and the West, with the focus on items from Iran’s Qajar dynasty, a member of a French delegation from the Louvre museum said in Tehran on Monday.
According to the French official, who was accompanying President of the Louvre Jean-Luc Martinez, a similar exhibition was held 20 years ago, but it will be the first time that those items are transferred out of Iran.
According to the Louvre’s website, ‘The Rose Garden: Masterpieces of Persian Art from the 19th Century’, will be held at the Louvre-Lens from March 28 to July 23.
The exhibition will reportedly comprise paintings, drawings, jewelry, enamelware, carpets, garments, photographs and ceremonial coats of arms, all in a colorful, immersive scenography by Christian Lacroix, a French fashion designer.
The French delegation is in Tehran to inaugurate an exhibition of dozens of masterpieces from the Louvre at the National Museum of Iran.
The exhibition in Tehran, which will run until June 8, is part of an agreement signed between the Louvre and Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO), during Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s visit to Paris in January 2016.
