Iran’s ambs. calls for resolving Tehran-Paris banking issues

MNA – Ambassador of Iran to Paris has urged the French government to enhance cooperation of major banks of the European country with the Islamic republic of Iran.

Ali Ahani, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to France, made the remarks while addressing a meeting organized by France’s largest employer federation, MEDEF (Mouvement des entreprises de France) in Paris.

Held on August 31, the meeting was also attended by the France’s Ambassador to Tehran Bernard Poletti as well as representatives of over 100 French companies.

Prior to Ahani’s speech, deputy head of MEDEF appreciated serious support of the Iranian ambassador during his term of service saying “you are a great diplomat who managed to handle bilateral cooperation between the two countries, which was more like a minefield, with adequate delicacy and professionalism.”

The French official referred to frequent visits of the two countries’ political and economic officials as well as the French delegations’ arrival in Tehran adding “following long periods of difficulty in relations between Tehran and Paris, you paved the path for French companies and thus leaving a good memory of yourself.”

Later into the seminar, Iran’s Ali ahani expressed his satisfaction with growing developments in ties with France saying “despite various threats and pressures, courageous efforts of MEDEF officials for reinvigoration of economic relations between the two countries are appreciated.”

“Yet, certain challenges exist such as excessive caution exercised by major French banks in cooperation with Iran, which requires a stronger support and initiative from the French government,” underscored the official.

Ahani, with reference to the capabilities, stability and security of our country, encouraged French companies to ensure long-term cooperation with Iran through investment in projects and transfer of know-how which can bring about success in the Iranian market.
