Israel refuses to release quadriplegic Palestinian

Days of Palestine, West Bank -An Israeli military court in Jerusalem refused on Thursday to release quadriplegic Palestinian prisoner, Palestinian Prisoner Club (PPC) said.

In a statement, the PPC said that the Salem Court, an Israeli military court, postponed the release of the quadriplegic Khairullah Shareeda to 72 days.

Shareeda was kidnapped from his house in Nablus, in the occupied West Bank, on May 21 and has been in remand detention ever since. While in custody, he underwent harsh interrogations.

The Israeli military court said, according to the PPC, it is considering Shareeda under administrative detention, not remand detention.

According to the statement, the PPC said it was afraid that the Israeli court might issue a six-month term of administration detention against Shareeda.

It is worth mentioning that Shareeda was taken to the court in an ambulance and attended the hearing while lying on a bed.

Meanwhile, the Israeli magistrate court in Jerusalem adjourned the trial of the sick child Omar Ishtiea, 15, who suffers from diabetes and is currently in a very difficult health condition.

During the same session, the court also adjourned the trial of the world-youngest prisoner Mohamed Hoshea, 11, from the occupied city of Jerusalem.
