Israeli court sentences Palestinian boy to 6 years

Days of Palestine, Jerusalem -Israeli military court in Jerusalem sentenced on Sunday 14-year-old Palestinian boy to six and half years and fine worth NIS26,000 ($6,760).

The verdict against Muawiyeh Alqam, who was kidnapped from the Israeli light rail in Jerusalem with his cousin on November 10, 2015, was reached during Sunday hearing and would be officially announced on July.

Alqam is accused of carrying out a stabbing attack against an Israeli commuter of the light rail in Jerusalem. While his cousin, Ali Alqam, is also accused of planning to carry out a stabbing attack.

In November, an Israeli court indicted Muawiyeh of for murder attempt, claiming that he confessed to the Israeli police that he wanted to stab an Israeli in revenge to one of his relatives, who had been murdered by the Israeli occupation forces.

Alqam’s father denied that his son had planned to stab an Israeli soldier, stressing that all what he had was a small scissors used for cutting finger nails.

He said that the Israelis, who stripped him of his clothes and pulled him violently to the ground and who shot his 11-year-old cousin several times, must be convicted “not my son.”
