Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed into law a bill passed by the state legislature which will expand the medicaid program, according to the Huffington Post today, Monday, June 17.

The bill is a key component of the Affordable Care Act also known as Obamacare.
Brewer previously opposed it before the U.S. Supreme Court held it was constitutional and the President was re-elected, according to the Reuters News Agency.
A coalition of Democrats and Republicans combined to pass the bill in the both houses of the Arizona legislature before it reached the governor’s desk.
Angry conservatives asserted they still had other options and would not stop their opposition to the bill.
Brewer campaigned for passage of the bill for five months with the support of business and healthcare groups. The bill easily passed both sides of the legislature which are controlled by Republicans.
Brewer said the bill will “protect rural and other hospitals from rising costs of uninsured payments.”
An additional 300,000 poor and disabled residents of Arizona will be eligible for Medicaid as a result of the bill being signed into law.
Arizona now becomes the 24th state to pass this portion of Obamacare.
Why did Brewer change her mind after vehemently opposing President Barack Obama and his healthcare bill?
She said the federal government will pick up the tab for three years.
She also vowed to veto all bills before the Arizona legislature until the lawmakers addressed Medicaid expansion. Astonished legislators watched her veto five bills before they took her seriously and took another look at the Obamacare bill.
Seven states including Ohio have yet to decide on the Medicaid bill. Gov. John Kasich has now become a strong supporter of the bill also, although he may face stiff opposition in the Republican-controlled legislature Buckeye State.
Michigan’s Rep. Gov. Rick Scott is also now in favor of the bill, although his state has yet to decide which way they will go on it.
