(Scroll down for video) Russian Muslim leaders were invited and attended the opening ceremony at the Russian “Jewish Museum of Tolerance”.

 

After seeing the beautiful and educational museum, Muslim leaders said that they also want to open a museum like the Jewish museum, in order to educate people on Muslim history and culture.

The Israeli president, Shimon Peres and Russian president, Vladimir Putin, opened the largest Jewish museum in the world, according to news media reports.

President Shimon Peres met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow at the opening of the Russian Jewish Museum of Tolerance, the largest museum in the Jewish world.
Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar of Russia has also invited former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev to visit the Center for Tolerance.

“Jews feel safe and comfortable in today’s Russia. That was made possible largely due to the political process that I began,” Gorbachev said during a meeting with Lazar.
 
Alexander Boroda, the president of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia, said the work began in 2007 to create the museum project, which originated with Rabbi Lazar.
The Russian Jewish Museum of Tolerance, is designed to bring together different cultural traditions through the prism of Jewish culture, to develop ideas of tolerance and harmony.

The center includes state of the art technology to teach creation, the giving of the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai, the Holy Temples, life in the Diaspora and Jewish suffering over generations.
 
It is the largest Jewish museum in the world, with an area of 17,000 square meters, while the
exhibition area dedicated to the history of the Jewish people is 4,500 square meters.There are several exhibitions at the museum, a library, science center, conference rooms and exhibition halls.

Boroda said that the awakening of Jewish life in the region has shifted five synagogues to Moscow, and that more will be established, along with Jewish schools.

The Moscow Museum joins the new cultural center and largest Holocaust museum that recently opened in Ukraine.
