Afghan Foreign Ministry summoned Pakistani ambassador to Kabul on Sunday to give the warning.
“Any continuation of such reported shelling against Afghan villages could have a significant negative impact on bilateral relations,” Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Jawed Ludin said in a statement.
The Afghan officials say Pakistan fired more than 300 shells and rockets into Dangam district in eastern Kunar province on Friday and Saturday, killing at least four people in the area.
The issue Pakistani assault on Afghan soil was also raised in Afghan national security council and security officials were instructed “to put into place all due actions necessary,” President Hamid Karzai’s office said.
Islamabad, however, dismissed the claims, blaming Afghanistan for artillery attacks against Pakistan.
“Pakistani troops only respond to and engage militants from where they are attacked/fired upon,” a senior Pakistani military official said.
At least 15 cross-border attacks have been carried out by militants against Pakistani check points and the civilian population in northwestern towns of Dir and Chitral over the past year, he added.
The two states will hold a high-level meeting in Afghan city of Jalalabad in the near future to resolve the dispute, the Afghan Foreign Ministry statement said.
